Vladimir has been teaching guitar for over twenty years to beginning and advanced students of all ages. His method of teaching is based on a highly individualized approach to each student with the main objective to instill the love of the music, thus inspiring students to practice a lot on their own. Vladimir also often helps his students to compose their own music for guitar. This motivates the students to play the music they enjoy, especially if they could not pick a favorite music style, song or instrumental piece. For advanced students, Vladimir also teaches music theory and improvisation.    

Vladimir’s students regularly participate and compete in state and county recitals. Since 2001, many of his students have won awards at the Charleston International Music Competition, at the Maryland State Guitar Competition and at the Montgomery County Music Teachers Association (MCMTA) judging concerts. Also, under his tutelage, some students have gone on to pursue various musical projects, such as composing songs and instrumental music, recording CDs and performing in school concerts and other community events. After studying with Vladimir for several years, some students chose to study music as a major or minor in college.    

Twice a year, Vladimir holds recitals for virtually all of the students studying with him at the time. The spring recital is designed to showcase the students’ accomplishments during the year, while the winter recital is dedicated to a different style of music every year. Previous years’ themes included music of the Beatles, melodies of American movies, Latin American and Spanish music, and classical music in modern interpretation. As an extra challenge for the advanced students, Vladimir often arranges for them to practice and perform together as duos, trios and sometimes even a larger band.     

For the adult students, Vladimir created a Guitar Club, which gives them an opportunity to meet several times per year and play for each other in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and share their experiences with each other. Some of his adult students went beyond the lessons and started various musical projects, such as writing their own songs or adapting songs from other languages, which they perform at the Guitar Club and also share on their social media.
